As I’ll be soon 37, I would like to tell you about how I take care of my skin. This year, at a Vichy event, the dermo-analysis confirmed that my face skin is aged
26, that is 10 years younger than my biological age. It is true I am lucky to have a good genetic heritage, but I also did some work in order to keep my skin
healthy and clear. So I thought that it might be interesting for you to find out what I do for my skin and what the products that I use are.
No make-up, no photo edit, natural light ( face treated in the morning with Bioderma micellar lotion, Sophyto Antioxidant serum, Murad Better Skin face cream and Eucerin Volume Filler for eyes)

I’ll start with a simple tip: the skin reflects the health and harmony in all your body, so there is no magic product. You can use great highly efficient cosmetic products, but if you do not hydrate your body and let it suffer from eating disorders, the result might be strongly reduced or even null.
My first advice is to take a close look at what you’re eating, at your working environment and at your lifestyle; only then you should decide if, before spending your money on cosmetics, it would not be better to improve your lifestyle.
It would be great if you could eat fresh fruits and vegetables every day, or at least dried unroasted fruits, if you don’t succeed in preparing a salad for yourself or putting an apple in your bag.
Water is also important but you should not use more than it is necessary. If we ate enough fresh vegetables, we should not drink more than two glasses of water each day. This is what I was taught by doctor’s Daniel Menrath book, Food for life, and I find his argumentation extremely convincing and logical. We are drinking water as a solution for the lack of hydration that should come from fruits and vegetables…yet we must still drink water, and it should really be water and not other liquids, such as juice box or coffee.
I am a lacto-vegetarian since 2008 and I try to eat every day as many fresh vegetables as possible. Sometimes it is my own coziness that keeps me from preparing a fresh salad (asI have to take each leaf and wash it, then cut it, then add the vegetables, which I must also chop, etc…). But I gradually get used to doing this.
And now, about thecosmetics that I use.
I always follow a simple rule: I never go to bed without cleansing and hydrating my skin and I never go out without applying a cream to my face. Even when I was extremely tired from breastfeeding up to 8 to 10 times a day, I would still get to the bathroom (with my eyes almost closed) and cleanse my face, sometimes using nothing else but a micellar water. I remember that the next day after my cesarean section (I was 34 years old) when I returned to my room I was really feeling that I had to cleanse my face, although only 12 hours had passed since the surgical intervention.
I have always looked for simple
formulae for my face skin, which I can explain to myself; I have always preferred
dermo-cosmetic brands or Romanian brands
such as Farmec, Elmiplant, Cosmetic
Plant or Herbagen. I have used and I am still using advanced creams from Dior,
Lancôme, Estée Lauder, Clinique, Elisabeth Arden, Lierac, Decleor, Academie. To
me, the great change came with the discovery of the bio creams – by brands like
Sophyto, Florame, Essential care, Ren – this really gave me the opportunity to experience
how your skin feels when you use almost nothing but bio products for about
three months. I am not a bio fanatic but I always have at least one bio product
in my daily routine.
Little by little I
understood that hydration is vital to your skin as it
cannot work properly if not hydrated.
A good cream should provide an
optimal hydration; it should feel as if your skin was drinking its own water
and that, once you applied the product, every single cell on your face is
smiling. There are only a few products that really make me feel this way – I
can mention brands like Uriage, Ivatherm, Cosmetic Plant, Bioderma and some
Vichy products.
If you are hydrated, you
are free to do great things for your skin
– you can use a facial serum in the
evening, a mask once a week or a more advanced cream every few days.
To me, cleansing is
always requiring a cream type product or a very creamy lotion, a micellar
water, an eye cleanser. I do not tolerate tonic lotions, or if I really want to
use one, I strongly dilute it by moistening the cleansing disk first with water
and only then with a small amount of toner. This is happening to me for years
so I stopped using tonic lotions since I was around 34.
Because I sometimes deal
with some local problems caused by temporary pimples, I have in my emergency
kit products adapted for this matter by Bioderma, Uriage, Avene and Vichy. I
can always count on Triacneal gel by Avene. When there is only a small pimple,
I use Hyaluspot by Vichy. If there are small inflamed spots I use Vichy
Normaderm anti-ageing cream. I think this is one of the best formulae for local
adult acne; I can see how my skin gets balanced without getting dry. Although I
use this products quite rarely (sometimes after more than a month) I could not
do without them. Any inflammation on your face should be gradually reduced to
normal, and when you do this you need to take care not to cause another
problem. When Normaderm by Vichy was first launched in Romania, I used to apply
it all over the face even if I was dealing with only one pimple… the first day
my skin was looking great, but the next one it would start getting dry.
In ultima vreme incep sa experimenteze produsele care
exfoliaza tenul printr-o actiune enzimatica,

Lately I experienced
products that exfoliate your skin through enzymatic action
; I already have such
a product by Sophyto and I shall soon try the Artistry serum. What these
products do is dissolving the dead skin cells, residuals and other impurities
on your face. I have recently tested VisaPure by Philips, a beauty gadget that
promises to cleanse your face skin in a very
healthy and professional manner; I am not yet 100% convinced by what it can do,
but I continue with the tests ( I don’t use it anymore for me, I test it inside my family)
For some time now, I need
more advanced creams that work in several directions; the products I chose are Eucerin
Volume Filler , Glykolift by Ivatherm or Murad. I am also going to test some
Sisley products and I think I would really enjoy using some of their anti-aging
products. I read a lot about the researches Sisley develop and I really trust
this brand…I believe that after a certain age I shall not take any more
chances, but I’ll still wish to preserve the advantage I have now, that is a beautiful,
healthy skin, looking and feeling 10 years younger than my age.
And as I highly
resent the plastic surgery…I’d rather invest in daily care than resign to scalpel or laser. And above all, I
truly believe that a constant care is more beneficial to my skin than a
hocus-pocus cure.
Ma opresc aici ca vad ca o sa scriu o poveste, insa
retineti:
ochilor are nevoie doar de produse dedicate acelei zone.
Dimineata as
recomanda doar o apa micelara la capitolul curatare;
–         – Beti apa, mancati legume si fructe , completati
efectul unei crème bune cu ceva din interior;
documentati-va, v-as sfatui sa ignorati reclamele. In principiu, orice magazin
Obisnuiti-va din cand in cand
–          -Protectie solara!! – crema de zi trebuie sa aibe
SPF , adica factor de protectie solara.
–         – La 35 de ani nu va mai permiteti sa va jucati cu
tenul ,..luati treaba asta in serios.

I’ll stop here because I
might get to tell you a whole story, but keep in mind:
– Don’t go to bed until you
cleanse your skin, not just with water and soap, but with special products
dedicated to your face skin and that will make you enjoy this moment…don’t
forget the neck and the chest, and take care of the skin around your eyes by
using only products specially made for this area.
– In the morning, hydrate
your skin immediately after having it washed and softly cleansed. I would
recommend only a micellar water for cleansing.
– Drink water, eat
vegetables and fruits, support the effect of a good cream with something from
the inside.
– Find the products that
suit YOU, the ones that YOU like, and don’t just use what your friends or other
people like…
– You must have: a face
cleanser, an eye cleanser, a tonic lotion, a day cream, en eye cream, a night
cream, a facial serum, a product for the skin problems you might have (for
pimples, for skin redness or for depigmentation).
– Test before you buy and
get informed, I suggest you don’t pay much attention to commercials. Basically,
any cosmetics shop should have testers and you can even let your instinct
choose when there is not enough information. I usually avoid creams that have
an extremely strong and pleasant fragrance; yes, a cream should have a nice
fragrance, but it should not replace perfume.
– Create a spot of your own
where you can store all your beauty products, and make sure it is far from any
heat source. From time to time wipe the pots with some alcohol or some other
disinfecting solutions. We touch them so many times…they need to be wiped even
if they look neat.
-Sun screen! The day cream
must always have a SPF (sun protection factor).
When you’re 35 you no
longer can risk your skin’s health, take it seriously.
I hope this helps and I’m
waiting for your questions…( english version supported by Alina Costin, PHD Linguistics)
